Our Nubian Goats

The Anglo-Nubian, or simply Nubian in the United States, is a breed of domestic goat.

The breed was developed in Great Britain of native milking stock and goats from the Middle East and North Africa.  Its distinguishing characteristics include large, pendulous ears and a “Roman” nose.

Due to their Middle-Eastern heritage, Anglo-Nubians can live in very hot climates and have a longer breeding season than other dairy goats. Considered a dairy or dual-purpose breed, Anglo-Nubians are known for the high butterfat content of their milk, although on average, the breed produces less milk than other dairy breeds.

Anglo-Nubians are large, with does weighing at least 135 pounds and 175 pounds for bucks. The minimum height of the breed, measured at the withers, is 30 inches for does and 35 inches for bucks. Like most dairy goats, they are normally kept hornless by disbudding within approximately two weeks of birth.

NUBIAN GOAT BARN

Briar Creek Farm Renegade

Date of Birth:  04/18/20

Sire:  Lucky Lovings Lunar Eclipse

Dam:  Lucky Lovings Bambi (LA2019)

Sire's Sire:  Lucky Lovings RC N Camoufflage

Sire's Dam:  J&M Hideaway NL Sierra

Dam's Sire:  Lucky Lovings Dynamite

Dam's Dam:  Vedder's Starlett

If Renegade's current features continue as-is, he is going to be an excellent herd sire at Briar Creek Farm.  He is already showing long lines and wide width.  As with many things here on the farm, only time will tell with this little buckling.

Briar Creek Farm Rocky Ridge

Date of Birth:  04/03/20

Sire:  Lucky Lovings Lunar Eclipse

Dam:  Lucky Lovings Koko (LA2019)

Sire's Sire:  Lucky Lovings RC N Camoufflage

Sire's Dam:  J&M Hideaway NL Sierra

Dam's Sire:  Lucky Lovings Dynamite

Dam's Dam:  Vedder's Jazzminwe

Rocky is a chameleon, to say the least. He used to be black, gray, brown, tan and white - with different shades of each blended in.  We knew that he probably wouldn't stay as dark as he was, which makes him even more interesting.  His sire did the same thing.... born looking one way, then started maturing another.

Morgen Star I Am Silver Spoon

Dam's Sire:  Lucky Lovings Dynamite

Dam's Dam:  Vedder's Jazzminwe

Silver Spoon (also known as Piper) came to us by luck.  She has an amazing pedigree and a wonderful personality.  She is black roan, which makes her stand out in our pasture as she is the only doe that contains so much black.  What also makes her stand out is her confirmation, thanks to her lineage.

Briar Creek Farm Carolina

Date of Birth:  04/20/19

Sire:  Lucky Lovings Dozer

Dam:  Lucky Lovings Olivia

Sire's Sire:  Kismet Kadbury Wrangler

Sire's Dam:  Pleasant-Places Atlanta Breeze

Dam's Sire:  Lucky Lovings Dynamite

Dam's Dam:  Vedder's Ivy Rose

Carolina got her name from my "forever" dream of living in North Carolina and owning my own goat farm.  She is a handful as she isn't a personalable as her dam, but we are getting there.

Briar Creek Farm Magnolia

Date of Birth:  03/21/19

Sire:  Lucky Lovings Oliver

Dam:  Lucky Lovings Koko (LA2019)

Sire's Sire:  Lucky Lovings RC N Camouflage

Sire's Dam:  Vedder's Eva Mae

Dam's Sire:  Lucky Lovings Dynamite

Dam's Dam:  Vedder's Jazzmine

Magnolias symbolize dignity and nobility. In the olden days, magnolias were thought to be the perfect symbol of womanly beauty and gentleness.  As such, Magnolia's name is quite fitting.

Briar Creek Farm Lucky Clover

Date of Birth:  03/09/19

Sire:  Lucky Lovings Oliver

Dam:  Lucky Lovings Bambi (LA2019)

Sire's Sire:  Lucky Lovings RC N Camoufflage

Sire's Dam:  Vedder's Eva Mae

Dam's Sire:  Lucky Lovings Dynamite

Dam's Dam:  Vedder's Starlett

We are very excited with Clover!  She is a strong addition to our Nubian herd.  Her size, personality and conformation resembles that of her dam's.  All are strong traits that have been applauded at goat shows.

Lucky Lovings Lunar Eclipse

Date of Birth:  01/20/19

Sire:  Lucky Lovings RC N Camouflage

Dam:  J&M Hideaway NL Sierra

Sire's Sire:  J&M Hideaway AB Desperado *B

Sire's Dam:  Pleasant-Places Atlanta Breeze

Dam's Sire:  CH Hoanbu Norther Lights *B 85 +VV

Dam's Dam:  SG J&M Hideaway NJ San Andreas 2*M 88 VVEE

Eclipse is an amazing looking buck that really stands out in a crowd.  His coloring and spots resemble the eclipse that took place the night he was born (hence his name).

Lucky Lovings Bambi

81 V++A (2019 - First Freshener)

Date of Birth:  04/19/16

Sire:  Lucky Loving Dynamite
Dam:  Vedder's Starlett

Sire's Sire:  Kismet Mr Kadbury
Sire's Dam:  Misty-Hollow Boy Heidi 85 +V+V

Dam's Sire:  Frog Flat Farm Mr. Miyagi
Dam's Dam:  Vedder's Cayenne

Bambi is the Nubian herd queen, partly due to her impressive size and her ability to draw attention to herself due to her moon spots.  Her appearance even drew the attention of the Goat Journal Magazine's Facebook administrators.

Lucky Lovings Olivia

Date of Birth:  04/06/16

Sire:  Lucky Loving Dynamite
Dam:  Vedder's Ivy Rose

Sire's Sire:  Kismet Mr Kadbury
Sire's Dam:  Misty-Hollow Boy Heidi 85 +V+V

Dam's Sire:  Frog Flat Farm Mr. Miyagi
Dam's Dam:  Vedder's Gloves

Olivia has an extremely sweet and loving personality.  This is due, in part, to the fact that she was partially a bottle baby as she was so tiny as a kid.  She has matured into an elegant doe, boasting a lovely tan color.
